TASK FORCE VISION SUMMARIES

 

Local Artists & Arts Organizations Task Force

“Our Vision of arts & culture for Local Artists and Arts Organizations in Greater Flint is to develop an Art Center concept that provides:

1. Brings together existing educational, art organizations and artists

2. Provides education in visual and performing arts.

3. Provides an art mentor program

4. Downtown location

5. Holds performances, exhibits, commissions

6. Marketing, publicity and other support

7. Diversity

8. Festivals and workshops

9. Educational workshops (teachers)

10.Substantial funding and self generating income”

 

Communication/Networking Task Force

A collaborative environment in which the arts, in the broadest sense, are promoted locally, regionally & nationally to engage artists, citizens, visitors and organizations, heighten public perceptions, awareness and sustain strategic growth.

Downtown Task Force

"Our vision for downtown Flint is a unique, vibrant, safe central district with distinctive architecture, quality services and commerce including dining, arts, entertainment, living spaces and green space that attracts a diverse population from a broad region."

Neighborhoods Task Force

1. Basic needs in neighborhoods are met so arts and culture can be a higher priority;

2. There is full access to engagement in and funding to/for arts and culture events;

3. Local artists, formal and informal, are celebrated and involved;

4. Neighborhood input to/ownership of arts and culture in their community, including planning, design, horticulture and landscaping, public art, programs;

5. Free events and activities are plentiful

Underserved Audiences Task Force

1. Creating a broader definition of Arts and Culture including informal, non-traditional modes that represents diverse cultures

2. Showcasing local artists.

3. Creating an equitable public art and culture tax and equitable fund distribution system.  This will also incorporate corporate sponsorship of local artists.

4. Giving value to local art and artists making it and them a source of pride.

5. Having an Art Bus for free transportation to facilities.

6. Creating several communication mechanisms for arts and culture including art and culture advocates in local communities.

7. Creating consumer friendly, multi-generational opportunities to be involved in art.

8. Having complete art programs in all the schools.

 

Youth and the Arts Task Force

Our vision for arts and culture for youth is that all youth will experience ever-evolving, diverse, integrated art forms along with a supporting, participating community
