I.  Goals

After reviewing our mission statement the team began to identify goals related to Underserved Audiences.  The following list is in order of priority:

  • Communication--Communicate opportunities for involvement in the arts
  • Schools--Provide arts programming in pre K-12th grade schools
  • Community Arts Opportunities--Provide opportunities for community involvement in the arts

 

The team took the aforementioned goals and began to discuss actions, strategies, and timelines:

Communication:

  • Make people aware of available arts activities in a timely manner
    • Community-based distribution network—18 months
    • Community Arts Liaison—18 months
    • Central clearing house (i.e. GFAC)
      • Identify grant opportunities and grant writer—6 months
  • Market arts activities in a way that “feels” accessible
    • Be sensitive/aware of the audience we are trying to attract
    • Develop a better understanding of our changing community
    • Educate arts providers regarding the community using Story Circles
      • Identify different cultures in our community—6 months

Schools:

  • Build an arts advocacy group—12 months
    • Identify members—6 months
    • Train advocates—9 months

Community Arts Opportunities:

  • Identify possible community art locations
    • Family art activities
    • Public art projects
    • Artist residencies
