Greater Flint Area Community Cultural Plan

UPDATE
March 9, 2004

The Community Cultural Planning Task Forces met for the first time Wednesday, February 25, 4:00 – 6:00 PM at the Flint Public Library. More than 70 people attended this meeting as members of one of six Task Forces:

Neighborhoods
Underserved Audiences
Communication
Downtown
Youth and the Arts
Local Artists and Arts Organizations

After a Welcome and General Instructions to the whole group, Consultant Morrie Warshawski guided the Task Forces through a visioning exercise. Each group brainstormed what they see for the future around their specific topic. After finding the most important points of consensus, each Task Force wrote a short summary description of their vision.

“Our vision of arts and culture for (task force topic) in Greater Flint is ………………………….”

These vision statements were then reported out to the whole group. At the conclusion of the meeting, each Task Force had assigned one of its members to type up the vision statements and the raw notes and email them to Morrie within two days. This information is now on the website, as are Task Force rosters and meeting notices.

The next Task Force meeting is Wednesday, March 17, 4:00 – 6:00 PM at the Flint Public Library. Task Force members should review the notes from the previous meeting prior to attending.
