Greater Flint Area Community Cultural Plan

UPDATE

April 28, 2004

The Community Cultural Planning Task Forces completed their work at their third meeting on April 7, 2004, at the Flint Public Library.

At this meeting, consultant Morrie Warshawski asked each Task Force to brainstorm a list of Major Long Term Goals for the next 3-5 years and to prioritize them in order of importance. Several groups also had time to make a list of recommended actions. The notes from each Task Force are also posted on this website.

Using the Task Force notes, Morrie created a draft summary which was disseminated to the expanded Facilitation Team, who had served as Co-Chairs for the Task Forces. This draft summary is also available on our website.

At a meeting yesterday, April 28, the Facilitation Team gave feedback to the process and made suggestions for combining, focusing and further refining the goals. In addition, the Team decided to develop a list of core values, gleaned from the vision statements, which Robin Maynard has agreed to draft. Now, Morrie and Sue will incorporate all suggestions into a new draft, which will go back to the Team for comment on May 17. Once that draft is amended, the Task Forces will be convened for a “cocktail reunion” and invited to make their comments as well. That meeting is scheduled for June 9, 4:00 – 6:00 pm at the Flint Public Library.
